The voyage on this ship will be filled with content and pleasures, which are reflected in the elegant and tastefully decorated interior.
Since the new ferry will travel within the beautiful archipelago, we paid special attention to the environmentally friendly concept, ”said Michael Bakman, Executive Director of Viking Line.
In total, consumers sent to the contest more than 23,000 names, of which about 9,900 were unique. Many names have been proposed with the ending -ella, which is already known from the names of previous Viking Line ships. Among the proposed names, the name Victoria was also very popular.
After the preliminary round, the jury of the shipping company selected three finalists, of which the name Viking Grace was recognized as the winner. The winning title was offered by the Finnish Biggie Korhonen.
Viking Grace Ferry Tank
The vessel M / S Viking Grace, proceeding to operate under the Finnish flag, has a length of 214 meters. Running on new fuel, i.e. LNG (Liquid Natural Gas) engine allows the passenger ferry to reach a maximum speed of 22 knots. The capacity of the vessel is 2800 passengers, it has 880 cabins and 1275 linear meters of loading area for trucks and separately on two automobile decks designed for cars 1000 loading linear meters.
The English word ‘grace’ in direct translation means grace. The word comes from the name goddess of beauty used in Roman time. In Greek mythology, the three daughters of Zeus, the goddess of beauty, were called Graces. These are Aglaya (radiant), Euphrosyne (well-meaning) and Thalia (blooming).
